In Texas Hold 'em every player is dealt two cards face down. Once all bets have been made three cards are placed face up on the table for all to see (this is called "the Flop") and use in order to improve their two "hole" cards (the two cards you are dealt face down). After another round of betting a fourth card is placed face up on the table, this card is called "the Turn" or "Fourth Street". Another round of betting occurs and the fifth and final card is then placed face up on the table. This card is called "the River" or "Fifth Street". Using the two cards in your hand and the five face up on the table you create your best five card hand and then compare them to your opponents. The best five card hand wins the pot (the money). 7 Card Stud: In Seven Card stud every player is dealt two cards face down and one card face up in front of them. Players then bet according to how strong their hand looks so far and another card is dealt face up in front of each player still in the hand. This process happens two more times so that every player still in the hand has two cards face down, four face up, and then a final card face down in front of them. The players that bet or called bets all the way to the last card then show their three face down cards to reveal their hand. The best five card hand then wins the pot. Omaha: The game of Omaha is played the same way as Texas Hold 'em except every player is dealt four cards face down to them instead of two. Each player can use two and only two cards from their four card hand (the two that help you the most).Players then bet and see the flop (first three cards), the turn, and fifth street with a round of betting after each one. The player with the best five card hand in the end wins the pot. 5 Card Draw: Five Card Draw is the game most kids learn and think of when they hear the word "poker". Each player is dealt five cards face down. After a round of betting each player decides how many cards they want to draw by giving from zero to five cards to the dealer and then drawing however many cards they gave away. One more round of betting then occurs and the player with the best hand wins the pot. |
